To give some background to the Buchanan body that J&S bought the rights to in 1959 and also the Cobra (yes junior, that name was used well before that man Shelby decided to use it) that they also acquired the rights to, I have included an article from Australian Sports Cars and Specials.
When J&S bought the Buchanan body, they went one step further and provided a chassis designed by Jack Pryer to accept Holden mechanical's. I am lucky enough to have one from J&S that I found in a paddock in the Perth Hills (Western Australia). An excellent website dedicated to Holden engine Buchanans is V8 Vantage's Buchanan Blog.

Hi Stacey, I searched high and low and now I've found your blog, I will ask the same question I have asked many, with no result. Do you know what windscreen was commonly fitted to the Buchanan? I am restoring one and whilst I have a frame, I am unable to find out what glass was used. I have noticed that there may have been a variety used, however mine has the rounded top corners. My email is: deejay1957@hotmail.com.. Kind regards Dallas
ReplyDeleteit was an Austin Freeway windscreen and a little too tall to be ideal. A later car had an MGB windscreen and it was a far better fit. However, this was on a bodyshell only that was fitted to a racer with a custom chassis.
